Potential client questions
1) How would you grow your magazine to ensure it could be distributed in other areas of London?
I would slowly use bigger artists as the magazine expands. This would gain a larger audience as promoting well established artists would encourage more readers. We could also stick up leaflets in North London venues to attract more readership.
2) Why did you choose this colour scheme?
As the genre is Grime, I have used colours that are conventional to the genre - red, black and blue. Using other (brighter colours), would confuse Grime fans. However, to create more of a USP we might use variations of these colours (brighter blues etc) to create more of a colour pop. Additionally, when creating special editions, there is the chance to use more colours but keep the house style to ensure brand consistency.
3) What influences your magazine?
There is a large Grime fan base in North London and there isn't a dedicated Grime based magazine (from my research). This creates a USP and therefore is a potential strength as there is a gap in the market.
4) Are you thinking of selling any 'special editions'?
Hopefully once the magazine gains popularity and brings in more profit, we aim to release special editions. We'd like to release an all female magazine, made entirely by females. This will also reach the large feminist movement that is building in North London currently - it also encourages more of a mass audience.
5) Why did you choose that price?
From my research, magazines were typically not over £5. I chose this price to act as a competitor, whilst also appealing to my target audience. As stereotypically Grime fans come from a lower socio-economic background they have less disposable income.
6) How will you establish an online focus?
There will be a website with different content than the magazine such as competitions that are specific to online platforms. There will also be a social media presence to reach a wide range of audiences. Together, these two online platforms appeal to the younger target audience.
7) What artists will you interview?
Once the magazine becomes well established, we'd hope to interview famous influential Grime artists such as Stormzy and Skepta. Not only will this encourage more readers, but their interviews could help to inspire and teach younger budding Grime artists. This also appeals to the 'explorers' and 'reformers', when linking to the psychographic demographic - those that seek to gain knowledge.
